The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course introduces students to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. Topics include: - Fundamentals of Firearm Safety; - Children and Firearms; - Types of Handguns and Their Operation; - Ammunition; - Gun Safety Rules; - Cleaning, Storage, & Transportation; - Shooting Fundamentals / Shooting Positions; - Live Firing

     Students are encouraged to bring their own firearm to this class or they can use one of ours.  Anyone wishing to use one of our firearms, please coordinate with the instructor prior to the class.  There is no cost to use one of our firearms.

     Students must bring at least 50 rounds of ammo that they will use for the range portion for the class.  If using one of our firearms, students must pay for the ammunition.  Please note:  Live ammo may not be brought into the chapter house where the training class is.  Please leave the ammo locked in your car until it is time to go to the range.

     Upon successful completion of the course, each student will be given a certificate to record your participation.  This certificate can be used with your application package for a concealed pistol permit.

     This class, or equivalent training, is a pre-requisite for other NRA classes to be offered in the future, such as Defensive Pistol, Personal Protection Inside the Home, Personal Protection Outside the Home.
